MDA SHIELD
Background:
The Multiple Award Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract is a flexible acquisition vehicle established by the Missile Defense Agency to support rapid procurement of advanced defense capabilities. It enables the Department of Defense and partner organizations to efficiently issue task orders for innovative, scalable solutions addressing integrated and layered defense needs.
The SHIELD IDIQ supports a broad range of mission areas, including protection against air, missile, space, cyber, and hybrid threats, facilitating timely delivery of technologies, systems, and services that enhance national security and homeland defense.
Scope of Awarded Contract
Primary:
The primary scope focuses on the end-to-end development and delivery of integrated missile defense capabilities:
- Multi-domain defense system development
- Detect, track, intercept, and neutralize threats (ballistic, hypersonic, cruise missiles)
- Research, Development, and Prototyping (R&D)
- Science & Technology (S&T), experimental development, disruptive technologies
- Systems Engineering & Architecture
- Design of integrated, layered defense systems and architectures
- Weapon System Design & Integration
- Development, integration, and assembly of defense systems
- Testing, Evaluation, and Validation
- Prototyping, demonstration, and operational testing
- Production & Fielding
- Deployment of operational capabilities to support warfighter needs
Secondary:
The secondary scope includes supporting services that enable, sustain, and enhance the primary mission systems:

- Lifecycle support, maintenance, and system sustainment
